about

“At last! It's new music from The Unswept! Where in the world have you guys been?” Hey, thanks for asking!

Due to circumstances far too tedious (and oftentimes ridiculous) to go into, we were prohibited from recording and/or releasing any new material for the past 18 months! That's really a long time when you think about it! I mean, when you think about it in the terms of the entire existence of the world, it's not much, but in the music business, it might as well be a lifetime!

It took us writing several letters (actual correspondence in the post!), but we were able to obtain a big ol’ stack of documents relating to our contract situation. After looking over them carefully, binge watching "The People’s Court", and reading a copy of "Getting Yourself Out of a Bad Record Contract for Dummies,” we determined that we were well within our rights to go into the studio and record some new songs.

Then, once we finally succeeded in getting all of the lawyers and accountants in the same place at the same time, they tried to work it all out. It was a very intense evening spent pouring crossed teas over dotted eyes.

When the proverbial smoke cleared (indoor clean air act and all), our side emerged victorious. We took but a brief moment to shout 'hooray' (forgoing the traditional but way too formal 'huzzah' usually celebrated in such circumstances), and started preparing the songs for release. We are pleased to present them to you now!

Four new tracks, eleven total minutes of music! Not a bad haul for 18 months, yeah?

Anyroad, Thank you for your patience, we hope you enjoy the nice tunes, and we'll see you soon. Cheers!

about

The Unswept Chicago, Illinois

The O'Brien cousins all grew up together in a council housing project in Sheffield, England, where they played in several bands together.

Following a hurriedly hushed-up pre-international incident, they now make their home in the Logan Square neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois, where they currently hold the tile of the city's best undiscovered gem of a power pop band.

Track Name: Fake It
When the winter comes around
I find it hard to make it down
And deal with all the things that come my way

So I have to take a few
Where I normally have two
For a little nudge to help me start the day

My expression can't reveal
How I really feel
So I'll just fake it till I make it out of here

As I'm riding on the train
I try to trick my brain
To shift itself into a better place

'Cause the MD/PhD
Only wants to see
A happy smile that's shining on my face

My expression can't reveal
How I really feel
So I'll just fake it till I make it out of here
Track Name: The Boy Who Wakes You Up
I know you were sleeping alone last night
You had to be lonely
That cat on the corner of your bed
Well it's just not the same

Ain't it cold lying all by yourself?
You're shivering, baby
Don't you think you could use a little help?
Well, here I am

I want to be the boy who wakes you up

Don't walk all alone to an empty house
Let's end all the silence
You need someone to greet you at the door
With welcoming kisses

A friendly face sure beats the evening news
We'll order in, baby
When the lights go out we can share the night
And then in the morning

I want to be the boy who wakes you up

You can spoon me, baby
You can cuddle up close
I'll be there to hold you and keep you warm

I know you were sleeping alone last night
You had to be lonely
That cat on the corner of your bed
Well it's just not the same

Ain't it cold lying all by yourself?
You're shivering, baby
